Nine Dragons Chinese Restaurant is a Long Standing Institution in Sydney. Located in Dixon Street, China Town / Hay Market Has been here for Many Many Decades !! I remember my parents bringing me here from when I was very young. Offers a Comprehensive Menu of Chinese Cuisine as well as Yum Cha. Had the Sesame Prawn Toast, Satay Chicken Skewers, Steamed Rice Noodle BBQ Pork & Beef Tripe. They came well spaced apart, in a timely manner. Presentation and taste were very good. Only issue was, I needed to remind the wait staff of my drink order twice.
I liked the outdated tacky Chinese restaurant interior (not being sarcastic). The service was initially slow but when the food came and was placed on the lazy Susan the fun began. Dishes included salt and pepper prawns, honey chicken, combination fried rice, fillet Cantonese style, bbq pork with vegetables, combination duck, sizzling Mongolian lamb washed down with a bottle of La Bohéme Yarra Valley Riesling. All meals were very fresh and tasty only draw back was slow initial service and dishes a little on the small side
Best honey chicken and fried rice we've had in years!! Away from the noise in Dixon Street, this restaurant rates! Delicious food ( no ill ' salt' affects later!) Cute service with those robots.
A very nice and friendly service! The foods were tasty and well served. The price is also very reasonable.
I always love to come to this restaurant. The staff are always friendly and I always look forward to my next visit. The restaurant can get quite busy so I tend to book in advance. We had fried dim sims for entree and they have to be the best ones I’ve ever had and the honey chicken was definitely up there as well. They have a robot that brings dishes to some peoples tables which adds another experience while you are dining. I love how there are 9 dragon themed cocktails to play off the name of the restaurant. I’ve had the fire one before and had the ice and lightning ones this time and all three have been great. The price is expensive most likely due to their location but being one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, definitely makes up for that. Will definitely visit again next time I am in the city.
The food is delicious , they do not push the trolley around but you can order from menu provided . Staff is nice and assist us right away when we need . They have a robot who brings the food out to you , which is quite interesting . The only thing I did not like was the old smell from carpet when we stepped in the restaurant . Fit out was also a bit old and dark , Which did not bring great first impression . It is good that food turns out quite tasty .
I recently had the pleasure of organising 2 separate end of year work events and chose Nine Dragons because of the private dining area and proximity to our office. I didn't realise I had also signed up for some of the best service I have received at quite an economical rate. Angus and the team at Nine Dragons are incredible. Our events were a bit rowdy, had christmas cracker rubbish all over the place, we were a typical work xmas-party vibe. Not a single complaint from Angus and the team, so quick to respond to requests/last-minute changes/policy-adhesion in terms of separate billing for alcohol, and they paid really close attention to our staff that had dietary requirements. And to top it all off, some of the yummiest food in the area!! (with everyone being able to walk away with a lunchbox for the next day!) I cannot thank Angus and the team at Nine Dragons enough - we've had such positive feedback from our staff and something small like a positive experience at a team lunch or dinner makes a huge impact on their engagement & experience in their daily working lives. Thank you! 10000/10 recommend.
Good quality yum cha. Dishes need to be ordered off menu which is good as they are made fresh but I prefer trolley service for yum cha. Was very quiet for a weekday lunch so not the usual buzz of a yum cha experience. Overall a slightly above average experience.
